Il pazzo del faro, Emilio Salgari (Ed. Archivio Tipografico)

The Madman of the Lighthouse is one of the countless short stories written by Emilio Salgari, now distributed under an open Creative Commons license.
It was originally published in Il Giornalino della Domenica and takes place entirely on a small island — a rock rising from the Atlantic south of Nova Scotia.
Atop it stands a lighthouse, guarded by the Keeper and his daughter.
One night, a sudden and violent storm strikes the coast, testing the endurance and sanity of both.

This edition, curated by Archivio Tipografico, was entirely composed with hand-set metal type from the Magister series and printed on a Heidelberg cylinder press.
The text of the story is accompanied by three original etchings by engraver Marco Tallone.

Together, the book and the etchings form a true artist’s edition, conceived, printed, and produced entirely by Archivio Tipografico in collaboration with Marco Tallone.
