Archivio Tipografico’s workshop offers unique handcrafted printing services, always with the utmost attention to technical precision.

At Archivio Tipografico, every project is a small research in itself — a constant balance between the ancient craft of typography and contemporary experimentation. Each print is born from the encounter between different techniques and materials.

Movable Type and Photopolymer Plates

Our work focuses mainly on relief printing techniques.

We print using original lead and wood movable type, produced from the late 19th century up to the 1980s — the final era of traditional type foundries. You can browse our collection of typefaces in the collections section.

For greater design flexibility, we also offer the use of custom-made photopolymer plates, produced directly from digital files.

Woodcut and Linocut

Relief printing also allows for the use of hand-carved printing blocks, such as woodcuts, linocuts, or similar materials. Different materials can be explored to achieve a wide range of textures, details, and visual effects.

Blocks can be either custom-made in our workshop or supplied by the client.

Intaglio Printing

In addition to relief printing, our workshop collaborates with Sonia Gavazza’s studio to produce intaglio prints, further expanding our artistic, expressive, and technical possibilities.
