Forme Combaciate, Giancarlo Sangregorio (Ed. Cento Amici del Libro)

Forme Combaciate is the third book produced by Archivio Tipografico for the cultural association Cento Amici del Libro, which promotes bibliophilia. The featured artist is sculptor Giancarlo Sangregorio.

The discovery of some engraved plates by the artist, likely never printed before, initiated a design process in which Archivio Tipografico and Sonia Gavazza carefully considered every expressive choice: from the color of the binding thread to the positioning and sequence of the prints. The visual works are paired with poems written by the artist himself, selected to construct a poetic narrative consistent with Sangregorio’s vision and sensibility.

The volume also includes a short essay by Francesca Marcellini, president of the Sangregorio Foundation, and Lorella Giudici, the Foundation’s scientific director.

The book was printed using a combination of techniques: the engravings were produced on intaglio press by Sonia Gavazza, and the text was printed on a flatbed cylinder press from lead types, using different sizes of original Helvetica provided by the Giovanni Naretto Rosso Foundation.
Printing, binding, and finishing were entirely completed in the Archivio Tipografico workshop, with support from Linda Valperga and Silvia Sghirinzetti.

The Cento Amici del Libro produce one book per year exclusively for members, featuring often unpublished texts and works.
