Module A
July 15–20
Overview
A step–by–step introduction to the fundamentals of setting type and letterpress printing.
Designing, setting type, and printing personal stationary, broadsides, posters, or business cards with handset type and polymer plates.
Module A is recommended for participants with little or no experience. Experienced printers are also encouraged to attend.

Output
Participants will produce stationery, business cards, and/or editions of prints using handset type.
They will also learn to print from plates and can choose from among some decorative elements to include in their compositions.
Experience level
Participants of all experience levels are encouraged to attend the workshop. Everyone will be able to work at different paces and according to their own skill levels.
In general Module A is more well-suited for beginners.
Module B
July 22–27
Overview
Work with our crew of designers, illustrators, and printers to develop and produce your personal project.
Proofing typographic comparisons, making polymer plates, engraving linocuts, producing an edition of original work.
Module B is recommended for participants who have completed Module A or have experience as printers, artists, or designers.

Output
With the assistance of our designers, printers, and illustrators, participants will produce editions of original work. Guided projects will be provided for anyone who does not want to pursue a personal project.
Participants are encouraged to arrive with a project to pursue, with concepts, sketches or layouts underway, and with the spirit of rapid prototyping in mind.
Keep in mind that content takes time to produce and edit.
Some examples of projects that would be appropriate for Module B:
Invitations – Design and print invitations for an upcoming special event.
Photographs – Produce an edition of letterpress-printed photographic images in 1 or 2 colors. See how different file formats affect the print quality.
Fine Art Editions – Produce an edition of your work or in collaboration with another artist.
Posters/Broadsides – Say something. Publicize events, promote causes or products, or celebrate a short speech or a poem.
Custom Stationary – Make cards, letterhead, envelopes, or other printed matter for yourself, a friend, or a business.
