The “Alfabeti Modernisti Italiani” project, run by Luca Lattuga (Anonima Impressori) and Alessandro Bombieri, traces and rewrites the history of modernist movable type produced by Italian xylographies and typographical foundries between 1930 and 1945. The poster was printed on October 20, 2023, on the occasion of the project presentation conference in the Archivio Tipografico, bringing together the respective collections. The text is extracted from an issue of Campo Grafico, contemporary to the years of design and production of the typefaces used, and reports an extract of the heated discussion that was taking place at the time in specialized magazines on the meaning of “modern style”.
