Guido Modiano (1899 - 1943) was an Italian typographer and art critic, protagonist of the debate on the renewal of the Italian arts in the years between the two wars. He wrote many articles in the main Italian trade magazines in which he supported the positive contribution of abstractionism and rationalist architecture to the evolution in the modern sense of the Italian graphic-advertising language.

In 1931 he started “Tipografia”, published on behalf of the Reggiani Foundry (short-lived, only 3 issues), and in 1933 he designed the typeface presented in this diptych, printed following the layout used in an advertisement of that period.
