Archivio Tipografico is located in Turin, at Via Brindisi 13/a. It’s no coincidence that the area has long been home to several printing houses and the only Italian foundry with an in-house art studio: the Nebiolo Foundry. Most of the typefaces we hold were designed and produced in that foundry.
The association’s mission, as detailed in its bylaws, is to develop and promote the art of fine books and traditional printing. It is committed to maintaining an active and collaborative workspace, a meeting place for different generations of people united by a passion for printed paper and analog printing techniques.
Associazione Archivio Tipografico is open to collaborating with other organizations promoting artistic and educational practices. Visits are available by reservation via e-mail. We communicate our upcoming events via Instagram, the ARCI app, or our newsletter.
Archivio Tipografico (Type Archive) is a rather informative description of the space we manage, and derives from the title of the company magazine of Fonderie Nebiolo, the historic Turin-based type and printing press manufacturer. This publication presented the new typefaces and printing presses produced by the company. It was typographer and publisher Enrico Tallone who suggested this name to Emanuele Mensa, the collection’s founder.
We don’t have fixed hours. To visit us, please schedule an appointment by email, specifying the reason for your visit.
Depending on the nature of the project, we can proceed through a collaborative partnership or by establishing a professional relationship. In the first case, we charge a daily lab usage fee, payable as a donation, and you can come directly to print your project, with our assistance. In the second case, we will prepare a quote and handle all the production phases of the project according to your preferences and needs, issuing a formal invoice upon completion.
See the printshop page for detailed information on the printing techniques and additional services we offer.

Of course! At Archivio Tipografico, we regularly organize tours and workshops.
We open the space free of charge for short visits to small groups (up to 5 people), while we also offer structured guided tours for organized groups or school classes of up to 12 people. Each tour lasts approximately 1 hour and requires a donation to support the organization and the space.
Contact us by email to arrange a visit.
It’s possible but we only accept curricular internships in collaboration with Italian or foreign universities, or as part of exchange programs. We cannot offer extracurricular internships, consider hiring people, or undertake ongoing collaborations.
Associazione Archivio Tipografico is part of the ARCI network, so all you need is a valid ARCI membership card! Find all the details and the procedure on the Membership page.
All printed projects are available for purchase in the store section. All the projects for sale are the result of collaborations with various individuals, associations, and collectives. All proceeds from the sale of our store help make the Archivio Tipografico project sustainable.
No. Archivio Tipografico has always been exclusively self-financed. We support ourselves through the sale of printed materials, memberships, and participation as partners in cultural projects. All the work that association members carry out in cultural projects is completely voluntary and unpaid.
Let’s talk about it! Email us. Generally, we’re interested in hosting events aligned with the themes of archiving and preserving memory and practices, in the fields of art and craftsmanship.
The events we organize must start and end within one day. We can’t host multi-day exhibitions or installations because the space dedicated to events is the same one we work in every day.
