Francesco Griffo or Griffi, also known as Francesco da Bologna (Bologna, c. 1450 – c. 1518) was an Italian typographer and punch cutter. He is considered the inventor of the italic, created for the Venetian printer Aldo Manuzio. This poster ironically commemorates the importance and influence that his figure had on the discipline of type design and typography in general. Poster designed for the “Francesco Griffo, incline alla rabbia” exhibition (ISIA Urbino, Mediateca Montanari, Fano, June 2015).
