More about at

- Studio

The studio is specialized in traditional typesetting and we operate as “creative makers”: a contemporary reunion of art and craft where mind and hands can’t work apart in a slow, high-quality and meticulous production process.

Sometimes at organizes workshops with students and professionals. We believe that the knowledge and the love for letterpress need to be spread as much as possible!

More about our workshops

- Windmill

Among others, the studio hosts the famous and very popular Heidelberg Windmill, a super fast clamshell platen press. The name derives from the paper automatic-feed system movement. As for all platens, the paper is pressed against the flat, operating plane to plane.

The collection of lead movable types includes about 1500 drawers of different sizes, styles, periods and origins.

- Proof-presses

In the lab there are cylinder proof-presses from Germany and USA. Graphic elements are on a flatbed and the paper runs over a pressure cylinder. In the past, these machines were used just for proofing, but today they are the perfect choice for projects with a low number of copies.

The most important bequest that enriches the collection of movable lead types belonged to the historic Tipografia Marchisio, which has been a reference point in Turin for the high-quality printed materials over decades.

Our 2 German platen presses are in the middle of the printshop and they both operate with a sliding system. They have nothing to envy to each other… despite almost 70 years of difference!

The collection of fonts also includes several drawers of medium-large size wooden types, traditionally used for printing posters (obviously wood was used instead of lead after certain type size for weight reason).

Our biggest and fastest printing machine (up to 4000 copies/hour and 50x70cm printing area) is an Heidelberg flat-bed cylinder produced in the 50s: it represents the typographic engineering precision peak of last century.
